MESC Grant to Support Course Revisions
The Middle East Studies Center will provide a grant to support faculty revising their courses or developing new courses relating to the Middle East. Learn more on the application page. We hope to support faculty in developing curricula that provide authentic cultural experiences and relationship-building opportunities in the Middle East. We ultimately hope to support students' opportunities to create meaningful relationships with peers in the Middle East.

Guidelines and Deadlines
Any proposed revisions must comply with the University's course change guidelines. Final approvals for new courses or course revisions go through the University Registrar.
- To revise your Summer 2025 course, apply by July 1st, 2024.
- To revise your Fall 2025 course, apply by November 1st, 2024.
- To revise your Spring 2026 course, apply by March 1st, 2024.
Requirements
In order to be considered for the grant, the proposed course/revised course should have at least a 25% focus on the Middle East and a commitment to providing students with authentic cultural experiences. A full list of requirements can be found on the application.
We strongly encourage faculty to engage with Ohio State's Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), which aims to provide collaborative learning and meaningful intercultural interactions in an online classroom. The new COIL program will be taking place throughout the autumn 2024 semester as a partnership between the Office of International Affairs and the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning. The deadline to participate in COIL Autumn 2024 is April 30th. Please apply through the Office of International Affairs.
