Course Development and MESC's Mission
Are you an Ohio State University faculty member thinking of revising one of your courses or developing a new one? If your course development is focused on learner-centered curricula and pedagogical interventions we highly encourage you to apply for a MESC course development support grant. We will provide between $500 and $1500 depending on the scope of work. It can be a new course or the revision of an existing course. Requirements:
- Learning Objectives for the new course or those related to the revision.
- Student-centered focus with a priority placed on authentic cultural experiences.
- At least 25% of the course content having a focus on the Middle East
- A final report and syllabus indicating what you developed as a result of this grant
- Curriculum committee approval of your course
- Course development costs budget noting additional sources of funding.
We especially consider teaching partnerships with faculty or educational programs in the Middle East or surrounding regions or elements that allow your students can experience the cultures first-hand, via technology or in person. Authentic cultural experiences are core to our values.
If you plan to do online learning we hope you will consider integrating Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and join Ohio State University's Virtual Exchange learning community. That program comes with a course support grant that will further bolster your efforts.
We are so glad you've come here and looking forward to learning more about your course! Our mission to forge a hearty scholarly committee within Ohio State, build our collective visibility, and mentor young scholars means course development is an important part of our strategy. Are the courses you are teaching listed on our website? Please let us know if we need to add anything.
