Recognizing Sultana Nahar

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Sultana Nahar was honored with two awards this April.
Nahar is a distinguished physicist and research professor in the Department of Astronomy at The Ohio State University. Her expertise spans atomic physics, astrophysics, and nanobiomedicine, with a particular focus on atomic processes such as photoionization, electron-ion recombination, and theoretical spectroscopy.
The first award is the William Fowler award for Distinguished Research in Physics and connection to the Eastern Great Lakes Region of the American Physical Society. Willie Fowler was an alumnus of OSU and shared the 1983 Nobel prize with Subrahmanyam Chandrasekhar for pp-nucleosynthesis as the source of energy in stars, and of course the foundational B2FH paper in cosmology.
The second award is the “Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award”. It is an over 70-year old recognition program of Studentlife Leadership Program.
These awards demonstrate Dr. Nahar’s immense dedication to both research and serving students.
