Message of Support from the Office of International Affairs

We are greatly saddened by the many thousands of lives lost following the devastating earthquake that occurred in southeast Turkey and northwest Syria on February 6. As a valued member of the Ohio State family, we extend our heartfelt support.

As we continue to attract students, faculty and staff from across the globe, when a crisis such as this occurs, it affects all of us deeply. With rescue efforts continuing around the clock, we hope that more lives can be saved.

Ohio State is committed to supporting our Buckeye community and providing valuable resources to ensure your well-being. As always, students who need assistance or emotional support should reach out to the Office of Student Life’s Counseling and Consultation Service. Students can also access the support and resources provided by the Student Wellness Center, the Student Advocacy Center, the Center for Belonging and Social Change and the Office of International Affairs. Faculty or staff in need of assistance can contact Ohio State’s Employee Assistance Program. Our thoughts will continue to be with you and the people of Turkey and Syria during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Gil Latz, PhD Assistant Vice Provost for Global Strategies and International Affairs
