“The MapArabia Project: Integrating Archaeological, Geographic and Epigraphic Data in a Digital Atlas, a Gazetteer and a Dictionary of Ancient Arabia”
Join us for a catered lunch with visiting scholar, Jérémie Schiettecatte from the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, where he will share the results of his research project as well as its significance.
Please RSVP here.
The MapArabia Project (ANR/CNRS/CNR; 2019-24) encompasses a variety of fields of research: history, archaeology, epigraphy, palaeography, geomatics, and geography. Based on archaeological data and large digital epigraphic corpuses (DASI, OCIANA), the project aimed to develop online research instruments, adhering to Open Science and FAIR principles: an atlas, a gazetteer and a dictionary of ancient Arabia.
Note: This lunch will be followed by Dr. Schiettacatte’s lecture, “Archaeology of Desert Arabia: From Refugia to Oases”, in Enarson #100 at 4:00 pm.
This event is part of the Digital Humanities Series hosted by the OSU library and cosponsored by the Middle East Studies Center. The Digital Humanities Library page for this event can be found here.
