Amie Ferris-Rotman is an online/print journalist with Reuters. She worked the news agency’s Moscow bureau for five years, first as an energy reporter and later as political correspondent. In that role, she led coverage of a resurgent Islamist insurgency in Russia’s North Caucasus, making regular trips to the region and overseeing a diverse group of stringers. Since December 2011, as senior correspondent for Reuters in Afghanistan, she has focused on the struggles women face eleven years into the NATO-led war. She scooped the story of a woman’s public execution near Kabul, which sparked global outcry. She will speak to us about her journey as a reporter in Afghanistan, and some of the situations women experience daily in Afghanistan.
