Add to Calendar 2017-06-05 08:00:00 2017-06-09 15:00:00 Global Teacher Seminar The Area Studies Centers, led by the Center for Slavic and East European Studies, of The Ohio State University's Office of International Affairs are happy to announce the dates and topics of the 2017 Global Teachers Seminar. The weeklong institute, Human Rights in a Global Perspective: Mass Atrocities and State-Sponsored Violence, will run from June 5-9, 9:00am-3:30pm on OSU’s main campus. The institute will provide area studies content from five different world regions as well as emphasizing local endeavors to protect human rights here in Ohio. Themes and topics of the institute align with state standards. Please see the attached flyer for more details on the content.   Participating teachers will receive a certificate of completion and a $50 stipend for attending the institute. There will be an opportunity for an additional $50 upon completing a lesson plan by August 15. Participants can enroll in Independent Study with Tami Augustine to earn graduate credit for attending the institute; please email Kathryn Metz by March 1, 2017 if you’re interested in enrolling in graduate credit. The institute is open to both pre-service and in-service middle and high school teachers and is free of charge. Teachers must work with their schools for tuition waivers.    The registration deadline is May 1, 2017.
