Film: Fireworks Wednesday

February 12, 2019
All Day
Room 165, Thompson Library

Mark your calendar, and please RSVP for this Persian language film screening. Ohio State University's Library offers an extensive collection of films from the Middle East (see below).  We will screen the Lebanese film "Fireworks Wednesday" and conduct a Q&A with a faculty expert on the film's topic. Refreshments will be served.

It's the last Wednesday of the Iranian New Year (Now Ruz) and in the old Persian tradition kids and adults alike take to fireworks in the streets. Meanwhile in a block of apartments all forms of human emotions are on display. Mojdeh suspects that her husband is having an affair with the hairdresser in the flat next door. She feels cheated and isolated and on the eve of their departure to another country, she is having a total breakdown. A young girl who, on the eve of her marriage, has come to earn some money by house cleaning in Mojde's flat, becomes a pawn in a game of love and hate, truth and deception between all the involved parties.

Parking and Accessibility

Parking for events on OSU campus is available at the Tuttle Garage and the Ohio Union. Disability spaces are available in those parking garages and behind Campbell Hall for visitors with valid disability permits. Payment for parking can be made by meters or through the campus parc smartphone app (note that any visitor spot can be made into a disability spot if paid for through the app). Further parking accessibility information is located here.

Please let us know if you have questions concerning access, or need to request accommodations for a disability. We will either direct you to the event organizers, or, if we are the organizer, make arrangements for any necessary accommodations. Early requests are encouraged, and a week will generally allow OSU units to provide seamless access.
