Lending Policy for MESC Resource Center
Videos, DVDs, CDs and maps are loaned out for 1 week; up to 3 of each type. Extensions may be requested by phone or email for each additional week.
Exceptions to rule:
OSU professors/instructors may borrow the above if needed (usually no more than 8 or 10 videos) to review and/or use in a given quarter with MESC’s request to return the items as they are used throughout the quarter. MESC prefers that they borrow and return, borrow and return throughout the quarter. In any case, all borrowed materials must be returned to MESC by the end of the given quarter.
Pre-collegiate teachers loan time depends on length of time needed and location, to allow for mailing outside the Columbus area. Generally, 1 month, including shipping both ways is the maximum loan time. An extension may be requested. MESC pays for shipping to the pre-collegiate teacher outside the greater Columbus area and the teacher pays shipping on return. Shipping must be by trackable method.
Books are loaned out for 1 month. Extensions may be requested.
Important Notes:
- MESC complies with copyright restrictions and purchases institutional and/or one-time showing licenses for many of the media available through the lending library. Media which is still under copyright is often permitted to be used in the classroom without the purchase of additional licenses. However, those media should only be used for personal or classroom use and should not be played publicly.
- Items borrowed by teachers are loaned out for use in the classroom only and must remain in the possession of the teacher. They are not to be “sub-lent” out to students or others. Interested persons can borrow the items themselves directly from MESC.
- Except for teachers outside the greater Columbus area, all items must be picked up from and returned in person (or by a delegated person) to MESC at 321 Oxley Hall.
