Buehrig, my dissertation is a study on the Background of International Education and analysis of problems and political attitudes of Afghan and Iranian students in the United States.

WORK EXPERIENCE
1987 to Present - Director of Middle East Studies Center, Professor of Kabul University in exile, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Political Science, and the Department of Near Eastern Judaic and Hellenic Languages and literatures, The Ohio State University.
Major Responsibilities: Management of the Middle East Studies Center; development and teaching of new graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Political Science and the University Center for International Studies; writing grant proposals; arranging conferences, seminars and outreach programs.In the last ten years (1987-97), in addition to teaching and promoting awareness of Middle Eastern affairs (see the attached list of professional activities), four of my major grant proposals for a total of 12 years were funded by the U.S. Department of Education for the establishment of a National Resource Center in Middle Eastern Language and Area Studies for a total grant of over $2,000,000.
Jan. 1985- Oct. 1986 - Associate Director of the Middle East Studies Program and Visiting Professor at the University Center for International Studies, The Ohio State University.
1980-1985 - Assistant Director of International Education Ex-change Program, The Ohio College Association.
Major Responsibilities: Developing international education exchange programs; directing training programs for foreign students at American universities; arranging practical and cross-cultural training and reentry orientation for foreign graduates; programming international activities and cross-cultural events from orientation to conference and symposia.
1978-1980 - Assistant Director of Saudi Arabian Project, Indiana University.
1977-78 - Post Doctoral Research, Indiana University.
1974 - Associate Director of Research and Professor of Political Science at Kabul University.
1972-1974 General Director of the Office of International and Cultural Relations and teaching at Kabul University.
Major responsibilities included administration of international educational exchange programs at the national level and serving as a member of the International Technical Assistance Committee and of the Afghan-American Commission (Fulbright Commission) in Afghanistan.

BACKGROUND
Raised in Afghanistan and Pakistan, received all three graduate degrees in the United States. Worked as tenured government employee in Afghanistan. In 1986, after seven years of Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, I decided to seek permanent positions at American universities.
